PERMANENT AND ELECTRO LIFTING
MAGNETS
(brochure pdf)
The use of electro & permanent lifting
magnets offers the following advantages:
RECTANGULAR ELECTRO LIFTING
MAGNETS
These magnets mainly
used to lift heavy objects with a thickness of 10 mm of more. Thanks
to the deep penetration of the magnetic field, the force is
guaranteed, even if there is a slight gap between the magnet and the
object.
The correct choice of system depends on the following
factors:
CIRCULAR ELECTRO LIFTING
MAGNETS
These magnets a shallower field of
penetration, which makes them particularly useful for lifting thin
sheets. The main problem encountered when lifting thin sheets is
that the magnetic field penetrates too deep, lifting two sheets at a
time. This gives rise to what is known as the 'peeling' effect,
whereby surface contact is reduced and the sheet comes loose. Many small magnets with a cross arm,
including a tip
function, prevent several plates
being picked up at the same time in the operation.
BIPOLAR ELECTRO LIFTING MAGNETS
Angled sections and tubes often have only a very small surface area to which a magnet can be attached. Goudsmit therefore developed the bipolar lifting magnet, which exerts the greatest force in the centre of the pole. The bipolar magnets combine minor dimensions with substantial magnetic force, so that they can be precisely positioned and can also effortlessly transport long angled sections. As the two magnets in a bipolar lifting magnet are quite some distance apart, while the workpiece is relatively narrow, the traverse must meet quite stringent requirements. The magnets must always be aligned. They are therefore fixed to the traverse, and can onl move in one direction (parallel to the traverse).
LONGITUDINAL ELECTRO LIFTING
MAGNETS
These magnets are used to lift bundles of material with an
irregular surface, which complicates lifting operations.
Longitudinal magnets, however, have a particularly deep penetration
field that makes them unsusceptible to such irregularities. This
enable safe and effortless transport of bundles of material.
Moreover, two or more of these magnets can be used, depending on the
length of the bundles. In the event that people are present in the
lifting area, however, extra mechanical slings must be fitted for
safety purposes.
Electro lifting magnet with demagnetizing cycle.
Goudsmit
has for years produced and delivered electro lifting magnets and
systems for the lifting and transport of steel products such as
plates and angled sections. With these activities sometimes rest
magnetism is left behind, depending upon the material. This rest
magnetism can be troublesome in subsequent processes such as
welding, compressing or galvanization. By
demagnetizing these products after lifting with a demagnetizing
device is one solution.
However due to
the form or dimensions (large or awkward) of some products this can
be difficult or sometimes even impossible. For this, Goudsmit has
fitted out its magnet controls with a demagnetizing cycle. A
demagnetizing cycle can be generated with the control after the
manipulation of products with an electro lifting magnet. This cycle
takes a few seconds. The products are now demagnetized where they
are also magnetized; by local demagnetization (not the entire
product) you save time and therefore money.
